Note: White Umbro away with tonal embossed crests, a black chest band edged in thin red stripes, a black shoulder band over a red stripe, black collar with red/white trim and red 'Sharp Viewcam' sponsor. Debuted in the 1997 Charity Shield against Chelsea and carried over into the 1998-99 Treble season (Giggs's 1999 FA Cup semi-final replay goal against Arsenal). Why are these prices lower than shops?
KitComps shows sold prices: what buyers actually paid on eBay. Shops show asking prices, which are often higher because a shop usually checks the condition, authenticates the shirt and offers returns. An asking price is what a seller hopes to get; a sold price is what someone paid.
Where do these prices come from?
From completed eBay sold listings of original shirts, which we log and check by hand. Postage is not included. We leave out remakes and reissues, kids’ and youth sizes, match-worn, match-issued and signed shirts, bundles, shirts with a loose or after-market nameset, training tops and jackets, unsold listings and odd outliers. Unusually cheap sales of older shirts are held back until the listing has been checked, and a relisted shirt counts once. Where we have 3 or more sales, the headline figure is the median (the middle sale), not the average. Full rules: How we price.
Is my shirt worth this?
Not necessarily. Size, condition and any printed name and number all change what a shirt sells for. The 13 sales here ranged from £44 to £150, so use that as a guide, not a valuation, and compare sales in a similar size and condition in the by-size medians and sold listings on this page.
