How we price

Plain English on where the numbers come from.

Sold prices only

Every figure on KitComps is a completed sold price — mostly from eBay UK sold listings we log by hand, plus visitor submissions we check before they appear. We never use asking prices, “buy it now” listings still for sale, or dealer retail as the sold price.

Originals, not remakes

We try to keep remakes and modern reproductions out. If a listing looks like a remake, it doesn’t go on the chart. Notes on a kit page flag when fakes are common.

Why the median?

We show the median (the middle sale), not the average. One oddly cheap or expensive sale can’t pull the number around as easily.

Rare kits

If a kit only has one or two verified sales, we mark it Rare. Treat that median as a thin sample — useful, but not a full market.

Currency

Prices are stored in pounds sterling (GBP). On the site you can switch the display to dollars, euros or yen using today’s conversion rate — the underlying sold price stays in GBP.

Trends

Where we have six or more sales across more than one month, we show a small sparkline and a plain change line (recent sales vs earlier ones). It is a rough guide only — based on a small number of sales, and condition varies. Not a forecast.
